"Grandparents' Day", "Family", and "Letter Tt"

This week we celebrated Grandparents' Day.  We invited grandparents to lunch on Wednesday.  The students enjoyed showing their grandparents all of the projects they made at school, we also showed off our Promethean board and sang songs for our sweet grandparents.  It was a fun day and we are thankful for such great grandparents.  Watch the video below for pictures from that day.

We enjoyed picnic lunches on Thursday and Friday as the first and second graders were enjoying their Grandparents' Day lunch in the cafeteria.

Our unit this week was "family."  We read great books that told stories about how fun and special our families are.  We did many great activities to celebrate our families.

Students make "family trees" with hand-print leaves

"Families Come In All Shapes and Sizes" - Students use shape stamps to create pictures of their families

Our letter of the week was the letter "T"

Illustrating the T sentence: "Tilly Turtle tightens his taco tie."

The students are beginning to sound out and read words, they completed the sentence, "Today we had tator TOTs!" By spelling the word "tot".  They are getting so smart already!
