Under the Sea

This week we learned about the ocean and the many interesting creatures that live in the ocean. It was a fun week and a great way to begin to get ready for summer!

Making "Rainbow Fish"

We learned about many different sea creatures. The students loved learning interesting facts about all the different sea life. We visited many websites that taught us so much, we even saw a real webcam from an aquarium in Hawaii. We saw fish swimming around on our Promethean Board! The students are so eager to learn, maybe a future oceanographer in the room?!

Seahorse crafts!

Throughout the week the students played many ocean-themed games. Here they are playing "Go Fish." They had great fun!

Ocean Dominos

"Gone Fishing" game

Ocean Snack - Ocean Water (blue jello), fish (Swedish fish), and sand (crushed graham crackers)

Practicing our subtraction skills using "Whales" crackers

Beautiful tropical fish like the ones we learned about in the coral reefs

Octopus Handprints

"Beach in a Bag" - Students wrote a sentence about their favorite things about the beach.

Killer Whale Craft - Did you know the killer whale is a cousin to the dolphin?

We all enjoyed some wonderful books this week. We learned some really cool facts from the "Extraordinary Sea Creature" book and some neat and scary facts about sharks from Tripp's book. We enjoyed the fun books "I'm A Manatee," and "Not Norman."

Happy Birthday, Zella!

Junie B. Jones is one of our favorite book characters. Barbara Park is the author of the Junie B. Jones book series. Ms. Park's birthday was this week, so we had a Junie B. party!

Down on the Farm

We learned all about the farm this week. We made many great crafts and did some fun activities. See all about our fun "Farm Day" in the video below!

One of our favorite crafts this week were making chickens from our footprints! The students are all very ticklish! And they all thought it was so "cool" to paint their feet.

We also made cows and learned about the many great foods we get from the diary cow.

On a farm farmers get very dirty. They have to plant crops and dig in the dirt, so we ate some dirt, mud and worms (pudding, oreos, and gummy worms).

One of our favorite games this week was a guessing game with the different farm animals. Each student had a farm animal pinned on the back of their shirt, they had to ask questions to their friends and try to figure out which farm animal they were. This was loads of fun!

Farm animals love the mud and mud-puddles! We created our on mud scenes and wrote a sentence about our favorite muddy farm animal.

Everyone enjoyed listening to the book "The Three Little Pigs."

We especially enjoyed the book "Junie B. Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket."

Students wrote in their journals about their favorite thing about the farm.

Looking for the hidden farm pictures.

Mama Jane came a shared with us a great book about the farm and some interesting facts about farm life.

On Friday we had a special "Farm Day." We dressed in farm clothes and enjoyed some farm inspired activities.

Sack Race!

Egg Race!

We then enjoyed a picnic with "chick-feed" (chex mix) and "pigs-in-a-blanket".

Earlier in the week we learned about the diary cow and that many great foods that come from the cow. One of our favorite diary foods is ice cream! So we made homemade ice cream. It was a fun process, we made it in a ziploc bag and took turns shaking the bag until it made ice cream. It turned out great!

Shake, shake, shake!

Magic! It's ice cream!

It was delicious!

Happy Birthday, Austin!

Happy Birthday, Briana!
