Presidents

This week our unit was "Presidents".  We focused on George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.  We also had our own class presidential election!

The students nominated two candidates early in the week.  Brody and Camdyn were the two presidential nominees.  They campaigned all week and gave wonderful speeches.  Watch the video to see all the fun!

Then it was time to vote!

It was a great race, Brody was elected President and Camdyn was elected Vice President.  The students learned so much about the Presidents this week.  Learning is so much fun!

One of Brody's campaign promises was to give everyone ice cream sandwiches.  He delivered on his promise!

We read so many wonderful books this week!  This was one of our favorite units so far.

Camdyn shared a coin collection she and her family had.  It displayed U.S. state quarters.

We learned about our national bird, the bald eagle.  And made a cute craft using our handprints and footprints.

Abraham Lincoln was a fun President to learn about.  We learned that he was our tallest President at 6'4".  The students measured themselves beside Honest Abe, he sure was tall!!

We have also been learning about money in math.  The students worked together to sort facts about the coins to create a bubble map.

Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday (wear your wackiest, mismatched, silliest outfits!) - inspired by the Dr. Seuss book "Wacky Wednesday"

Thursday - dress as your favorite Dr. Seuss character and green eggs and ham in the cafeteria!!

Tuesday, March 5 - "Meals with Mom" - All moms are invited to have lunch with their child on this day.  Our class will eat lunch at 11:50 AM, please meet us in our classroom.  We look forward to seeing all of our moms!!
