Colors and Letter Oo

This week we learned all about colors and shapes.  We had a lot of fun sharing "Show and Tell" for each color day throughout the week.  Each day the students were introduced to a different color word, they sang songs and played games to help them begin to recognize the color words be sight.

Watch the video below to see everyone sing along to the color songs!

The students brought many great and colorful items for "Show and Tell", take a look!

Logan's snack day was on "red day",  he treated us all to strawberries on this fun day!

Joseph and Jacob were very colorful in orange and blue for their "show and tell"!  Maybe some future Tim Tebow's in our class!

We read many great books thought taught us how to mix primary colors to create more secondary colors. Everyone thought this was so cool!  We had to give it a try!

The students painted each hand then rubbed their hands together to mix and create a new color.  Very fun!

As a class, everyone worked together to create a handprint rainbow.  We will display this in our class all school year.

Graphing our favorite colors.

In math, we continued to learn about shapes, their attributes, and sorting.

We read the book "Mouse Shapes," the mice in the story created new pictures using various shapes.  We made mice using circles and triangles.

Making more shapes from other shapes.

Everyone made a delicious snack, using rectangles, squares and circles they made a tasty school bus.

In phonics, we learned the letter Oo.  We learned the sound, how to properly write this letter and that O is a vowel.

Making an octopus from the letter O.

On of our favorite resources is www.brainpopjr.com.  This website has two of our favorite characters, Annie and Moby.  This week Annie and Moby taught us about colors and color mixing.  The students enjoyed playing the memory match game during centers on the Promethean board.

More fun with friends.
