Moms, Mardi Gras, Mississippi, and St. Patrick

This past week we had many fun celebrations.  We began the week with a Mardi Gras celebration.  We enjoyed King Cake and made fun masks, Hailey brought us beads she caught at a parade.

We had two King Cakes, Colin and Anna-Kate each found a baby!

The most special treat of all was having our moms visit us for lunch.  We had "Meals With Moms" and enjoyed a special lunch date with our mothers.

The students made cards for their moms.

Everyone was proud to have their mom at lunch with them.

We also learned about our great state, Mississippi.  The students learned how to spell Mississippi and many wonderful things that makes our state so great.

The students located our city on the state.

We learned about the state bird, water mammal, insect, and that the Gulf Coast has lighthouses to help the boats in the Gulf of Mexico.

Our state flower, the magnolia.

We even had Mississippi mud cake!!

On Friday we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  There were a few leprechauns in our class!

Making shamrocks

The students made a leprechaun and wrote what made them feel lucky.  That wrote things like "I feel like when I find a penny, I see a rainbow, find a four leaf clover."

Graphing the marshmallows in Lucky Charms cereal.

Shamrock cookies on a beautiful day.

Shamrock hunt!

No four leaf clovers were found, but they found lots of clover anyway!
