Dr. Seuss is on the Loose!

This week was a FUN, FUN week!  It was national "Read Across America Week" and Dr. Seuss' birthday week.  We celebrated all things Dr. Seuss!  We love reading!!

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2, watch the students sing "Happy Birthday" to one of our favorite authors.

Throughout the week the students played many great Seuss-themed games and activities.  We learned how exciting it is to read!

We read "The Foot Book" and then measured ourselves to see how many "feet" we were.

Throughout "The Foot Book" there are many opposites, we traced our feet and made opposite feet just like the book.

Enjoying Dr. Seuss computer games and videos

Everyone loved the "Cat in the Hat".

We read "Wacky Wednesday" which inspired a wacky dress up day on Wednesday.  They sure are wacky!!

After reading "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" the students discussed how they all wanted to be great things when they grew up.  They wrote and illustrated sentences to share their ideas, watch the video to hear them share "what they want to be when they grow up."

A class favorite was "Bartholomew and the Oobleck".  It tells the story of Bartholomew Cubbins and the King of Did and how oobleck almost ruined the great kingdom.  A very fun book with a great moral,  and of course we had to make our own oobleck!!

The students pulled out different book cards from the Dr. Seuss hat then retold the story to see if their friends could guess the book.  This was a really fun game!

Students graphing their favorite book from the week.

Bartholomew and the Oobleck received the most votes, everyone loves oobleck!

Ending the week by watching a "The Cat in the Hat".

We listened to "Green Eggs and Ham" and loved the book!

On Friday, the cafeteria ladies prepared green eggs and ham for everyone, and they even had cupcakes for Dr. Seuss' birthday.

On Friday, everyone dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Cat in the Hat, Cindy Lou-Who from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and Daisy-Head Mayzie Bird from "Horton Hatches An Egg".
