This week the students enjoyed a little break from school, "Fall Break" was Monday and Tuesday, so we had a three day school week. We ended the week with "Class T-shirt Day" on Friday. Everyone looked great in the class shirts!
The letter of the week was "Ii". We learned the short sound and students brought in some great pictures for the letter wall and show and tell, such as "iguanas", "iguanodon dinosaur", "igloo" and many other great "Ii" pictures.
I is also for "inchworm", we used pipe cleaners to look like inchworms crawling on the letter I.
October is "Fire Prevention Month", so we discussed fire safety. Next week the fire department is coming to visit us too!

Monday, October 18 - Since we will be learning the letter Ss this week, wear "silly socks" on Monday!
Monday, October 18 - Report Cards will be sent home, please review your child's progress, sign and return Tuesday. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me, I am always willing to discuss your child's progress and school experience with you.
Tuesday, October 19 - 50th Day of School!! We will celebrate the 50th day of school with a 1950s Sock Hop!! Wear a costume from the 19502 to school on Tuesday.
United Way Fundraiser: Please send loose change and donations for United Way, we will collect these in our class and the class with the highest amount raised will be rewarded with a pizza party. Also, check the school calendar from United Way dress up days. Students may bring a dollar and wear their costumes from home one these days. Wednesday is "sports day" and Friday is "camouflage day".
Friday, October 29 - Pumpkin Patch Field Trip: Kindergarten Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Mitchell Farms in Collins, MS - Teachers and students will leave from PLE by bus at 8:15am, parents attending the field trip may follow the buses from the school on may met us at the Pumpkin Patch. Parents will need to buy a ticket for the Pumpkin Patch when they arrive ($7.00) and they will receive an armband from Mitchell Farms so they can participate in the activities of the day. While at the Pumpkin Patch students will enjoy a hay ride, maze, pet farm animals, pick their own pumpkin from the patch, and much more! Also everyone will eat lunch at the farm, if you signed up to send your child's lunch from home please remember to do so on this day. We will return to school at approximately 1:15pm.
Supply Need: If anyone has ACORNS, please let me know. We have a fun "sink or float" science experiment we would like to try with acorns. If you have any you could donate to our class please send them to school. Thanks!
