What a FUN week!! We began the week learning about the letter Ss! On Monday, everyone wore "Silly Socks" as we introduced the letter of the week!

The unit this week was pumpkins, we learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. We even watched a video clip from a pumpkin farmer who grows pumpkins that weigh over 800 pounds and makes pumpkin pies that weigh over 400 pounds!!

We have been counting each day we go to school, we are counting our way to 100! On Tuesday, we made a milestone in our quest to 100, we reached the 50th day of school. We all enjoyed a 1950's inspired day and dressed in 50's attire and went to a Sock Hop!

All the Kindergarten classes participated in the Sock Hop, a "King" and "Queen" were selected as well as "Best Dressed Boy" and "Best Dressed Girl", and three students from our class won these honors!!! Ray, from our class,was "King of the Sock Hop" along with Kassidy (Queen) from Mrs. Gamble's class. And Tyler and Paige, from our class, got best dressed! Way to go, Ms. Marzoni's Class!!

Also this week we had a few other dress-up days. Throughout the remainder of the month our school is raising money for "United Way." One of the ways we are doing this is encouraging students to bring a $1.00 to school and they can dress-up on each of the themed days.

Red Ribbon Week: This week is "Red Ribbon Week," students will be learning ways to "Say No" to drugs. On Wednesday everyone is encouraged to wear RED, this is not part of the United Way fundraiser and students do not need to bring a $1 to wear red.
Thursday, October 28 - Fall Class Party at 1:45pm, Parents are welcome to attend. Also, this is "favorite character day" for United Way, what a great opportunity to wear a cool costume for the class party!
Friday, October 29 - **WEAR YOUR CLASS T-SHIRT** Pumpkin Patch Field Trip: Kindergarten Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Mitchell Farms in Collins, MS - Teachers and students will leave from PLE by bus at 8:15am, parents attending the field trip may follow the buses from the school on may met us at the Pumpkin Patch. Parents will need to buy a ticket for the Pumpkin Patch when they arrive ($7.00) and they will receive an armband from Mitchell Farms so they can participate in the activities of the day. While at the Pumpkin Patch students will enjoy a hay ride, maze, pet farm animals, pick their own pumpkin from the patch, and much more! Also everyone will eat lunch at the farm, if you signed up to send your child's lunch from home please remember to do so on this day. We will return to school at approximately 1:15pm.
Family Project - This week the students will receive a giant turkey feather pattern. Each family should help their Kindergartener decorate the feather any way they choose, use any supplies you want, be creative! Please return the turkey feathers no later than Monday, November 1. We will make a giant class turkey display for Thanksgiving.
