Halloween and the Letter Ff

What a fun and busy week we had! It was Red Ribbon Week, we discussed ways to make good choices and "Say No To Drugs!"
Also, this week we had lots of fun with many Halloween activities. Everyone got to carve a pumpkin on the Promethean Board.

One of our favorite centers is the "Listening Center." Here we listen to books-on-tape. This week students listened to the book "Halloween Party."

Of course we love play-doh! We made all types of creations with Halloween cookie cutters!

Students made Halloween patterns using foam shapes. This was fun and we saw some very creative patterns!

On Friday, some of the high-school students hosted a Fall Festival. They organized a series of games for us to enjoy. This was so much fun, everyone had a blast!

Musical Chairs was great fun, everyone quickly learned how to play and began moving fast to find a chair.

At the festival we also got to play with musical instruments. The was super fun and they made loud and beautiful music!

Hula-hooping to the music!

More fun at the festival, "Hot Pumpkin!"

Go fish, we caught candy bags!

Bean bag toss, fun, fun!

Face Painting

Friday was a busy day, after all the fun at the Fall Festival, we had our class party. Momma Jane visited us before our party and she was dressed very spooky! We all loved her witch hat and she taught us a great Halloween poem. She also read one of our favorite books, "Where the Wild Things Are."

Time to party! Everyone brought goodies for their classmates and we had yummy snacks and fun with our friends and family. The best part was checking out our treat bag, LOTS of candy!
In addition to having fun with Halloween this week, we learned the letter Ff. We traced our foot and decorated it with glitter, markers and stickers to create a "funny foot." We then placed all our funny feet together to form a capital and lowercase Ff.

We also made frogs for Ff. These were fun to make, we first outlined and detailed our frog with crayon then painted watercolor on top. These looked great displayed in our classroom.
Throughout the month of October we have learned about fire safety, October is "Fire Safety Awareness Month." To conclude all we have learned about fire safety members of the Purvis Fire Department visited us. They showed us their special suits, the fire truck, and their fire dog, Moose. We enjoyed learning from these real-life firemen.

We made fire hats this week, we were learning about fire safety and it starts with Ff! These were very cute, the students really enjoyed wearing them!
