February is such a fun month because there is so much to celebrate! We began the week with a discussion about Groundhog Day. We read some great books that taught us about groundhogs, then we watched the news broadcast of this year's groundhog prediction from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Looks like spring is in our near future!

February is also dental health month. The students loved learning all about their teeth and ways to keep a healthy smile. Everyone was wiggling their teeth to see if they had any ready to pull!

Students rolled to place marshmallows on the mouth to make a full set of teeth.

We also discussed the five senses this week. One of everyone favorite activities was the "feely bags". Students used their sense of touch to figure out what was hidden in each bag.
We are all excited about Valentine's Day, we began to decorate our room.

Thursday, February 14 - Valentine's Day party at 1:45 PM - Students may wear Valentine themed clothes on this day. All students are asked to exchange Valentine cards with their classmates. We have 22 classmates, I sent home a class roster, if you need another copy please let me know.
February 18 - No School - Presidents' Day
February 25 - March 1 - Dr. Seuss Week - Guest readers needed!! If you or someone in your family is interested in being a guest reader during this week please let me know as soon as possible. We are hoping to have at least one guest reader each day, and we ask that you share your favorite Dr. Seuss book with us. If you don't have a copy of a Dr. Seuss book, our classroom library is well supplied. We look forwarding to enjoying many guest readers throughout Dr. Seuss week!
