Letter Mm

What a fun week!!  This week we learned about the attributes of 2D shapes.  The students enjoyed learning about shapes throughout the week.

They made shapes puzzles.

 Created play-doh shapes

 Sorted shapes

And enjoyed some fun time at the carpet center.

The letter for this week was the letter Mm!  What a marvelous letter it is!

 Marshmallows on the letter M

We read the book "If You Give A Moose A Muffin".  The students traced their foot for the moose head and made a cute craft.  And we couldn't leave out the yummy muffins!

Monster Munch!  Milky Ways, M&M's and Marshmallows...Mmmm!!

To celebrate the letter Mm we had a "Monster Mash".  The students made monster hats and played monster games.

 Monster Stomp

Pin the eye on the monster

We also enjoyed some more back to school books.  We especially enjoyed beginning the Junie B. Jones Kindergartener series.

Colorful Show and Tell!
Each day this week we will be have a special show and tell time.  Bring something for the "color of the day" to share with your friends.  It can be any item that will fit in your backpack that is the "color of the day".
Monday - Red
Tuesday - Blue
Wednesday - Green
Thursday - Yellow
Friday - Orange
Throughout the week we will be beginning to learn how to spell and read these color words.  Start making flashcards at home to help your child read color words (red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, brown, black, white, pink) by sight.

Signed Papers
Beginning this week and continuing throughout the school year, your child will have "signed papers".  This will be a collection of their school work from the previous week.  Signed papers will go home each Wednesday.  Please review your child's progress, sign and return the attached cover page the following day.  Keep all of your child's work at home, reviewing your child's school work with them will help to reinforce skills at school.

Grandparents' Day Lunch
Monday, August 27 - Kindergarten grandparents are invited to lunch with your grandchild.  Our class will be going to lunch at 11:10 AM.  An adult lunch is $3.25.  The cafeteria will be serving red beans and rice, quesadillas, chef salad, or a chicken caesar salad.
Please meet in our classroom at 11:10 AM.  Afterwards, grandparents may take their grandchild to the library to visit the book fair if they choose.

Open House
Monday, August 27, 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM - Come to our school to see what we have been learning in Kindergarten.  Looking forward to see all of our families at Open House!

The "blog password" is a fun way for students to remind parents to check out the blog and what they have been learning at school.  The class blog allows for the student to share with their parents and family what they have learned in Kindergarten that week.  At the end of each blog post there will be a "blog password," when the student tells me the password at school (remember to whisper, it's top secret :D ) they will receive a special prize.

Blog password: RAINBOW
