Grandparents Day, Safety, and the Letter Tt!!

This week was a very exciting week! On Wednesday our grandparents came to visit us and eat lunch with our class. All of the students were excited to share what they had been learning in Kindergarten with their grandparents, and we all enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Watch the video for some great pictures from the special day!

Another highlight of our week was that we had a special guest, Tripp's grandmother, "Momma Jane." She read the book "Elmer the Patchwork Elephant" by David McKee. This is a wonderful book that helps us remember how special we each are. We also created our own unique elephants, just like Elmer. This was a fun activity! Momma Jane also shared many of her old-fashioned toys. These were fun to play with! The students enjoyed her visit and look forward to her coming back to share with us.

During phonics this week we learned the letter Tt. There are many things around us that begin with t! This letter was totally terrific! We enjoyed many fun activities as we celebrated this letter, we made tigers and apple trees from the letter T, we painted turtles and even ate some yummy tator tots! During show and tell, Tripp brought his pet turtle, Rico, to share with us, turtle starts with T!

Our unit this week was "Safety." We discussed many ways to make safe choices. We also learned about safety signs from Annie and Moby at Brain Pop, Jr. Ty's dad, Mr. Todd, donated some fire hats for us to wear. These were great as we learned about fire safety and how to "stop, drop and roll!" Thank you, Mr. Todd!
