100th Day and Winter

What a fun week!  On Tuesday we celebrated the 100th day of school!  It was a fun-filled day!  The students and I dressed up as if we were 100 years old.  The costumes were great.  Then we had fun counting sets to 100 all day!

Ellie and her mom made special cookies for our snack.

 Making 100 day crowns.

Adding 100 gumball dots for a 100 day gumball machine

Everyone's favorite 100th day activity - We had 10 different snacks, the students counted out 10 of each snack to make 100.  Because we learned that 10 groups of 10 makes 100!

Self-portraits of themselves at 100 years old

 Great 100 day books

The remainder of the week we learned about winter.  One of our favorite topics was penguins!  We learned all about this Arctic birds and how they eat and live.

 Penguin snacks

We made these snow globes and used them as a writing prompt.  The students wrote "If I lived in a snow globe I would..."

Snowmen

Everyone loved making "snowballs" (It's actually soap!)

We put it all together and made our own snowman.

Dakota had a cool show-and-tell.  He shared with us a real bee honeycomb he found at his house!
